Hello

I’m Collette, founder of Hounds ’n’ Harmony and a qualified Canine Behaviourist and Kinesiologist.

I help owners look beyond the behaviour they can see to understand what is driving it underneath. My approach combines professional knowledge with genuine first-hand experience, offering calm, compassionate and practical support that creates lasting change for both dogs and the people who share their lives.

My Story

My love of animals began at an early age, and although I originally hoped to become a vet, life initially took me in a different direction. After graduating in Business and Human Resource Management, I spent 20 years working as an HR Consultant—developing a deep understanding of relationships, communication and the factors that influence behaviour.

My path changed through my own experiences as a dog owner. Living with dogs displaying separation anxiety, reactivity and destructive behaviour gave me first-hand insight into how challenging and emotionally draining life can become when you do not understand what your dog is trying to communicate.

Working with a professional behaviourist transformed not only my dogs’ behaviour, but also my understanding of canine language. It inspired me to retrain as a Canine Behaviourist and, in 2016, I founded Hounds ’n’ Harmony with one clear purpose: to help owners understand the underlying cause of behaviour, rather than simply trying to manage the symptoms.

Since then, I have continued to develop my expertise through advanced study, including a Graduate Programme in Canine Language and Behaviour. In 2017, I introduced my exclusive home-boarding service, followed by Kinesiology in 2024—allowing me to offer additional support for the emotional wellbeing of the person at the other end of the lead.

Through years of working closely with dogs and their owners, I came to recognise that challenging behaviour rarely exists in isolation. Lasting change depends on understanding the wider picture—how a dog experiences their relationships, the resources around them, their sense of safety and their ability to explore the world with confidence.

From this understanding, I developed the Four Pillars of the Hounds ’n’ Harmony approach: Relationships, Resources, Safety & Security, and Exploration. Together, they provide a structured yet individual framework for identifying what is driving behaviour and creating meaningful, lasting change—strengthening the relationship between dogs and the people who share their lives.
